Following on from our previous special They Used To Build Ships Here, this beer pays tribute to the North East's glass making industry. The beer is a light coloured pale ale, giving off aromas of tropical fruits. The flavours are refreshing with notes of pineapple and grapefruit, followed by a lasting, subtle bitterness.

The history of glassmaking in this part of the world dates all the way back to the 7th century when glaziers were brought in from France to add windows to Monkwearmouth–Jarrow Abbey in 674AD. A workshop was setup on the River Wear near the abbey.
It's fitting that our brewery is located just 800m from the former site of Lemington Glass Works, where one of only four glass cones in the United Kingdom still stands at 115ft tall. Lemington Glass Works was opened in 1787, producing flat glass, and later light bulbs and glass tubes. The facility was closed in 1997, seeing the last glass works of its kind put out of production.
